Phone Scam Offers to Fix Computer
Posted By admin on April 2, 2011

Indiana residents are being warned not to fall for a phone scam that offers to fix computer problems. At least three residents have responded to the phone call and had their credit card numbers copied and compromised. In this scam, the caller claims that a problem has been detected on your computer that can be fixed by allowing him to download a program to your computer.
The owner of a local computer shop has been removing the troublesome program from some customer's machines, and he notified the police about the problem. Authorities recommend that subscribing to a good security program will help prevent downloading dangerous computer programs. People are often fooled by how trustworthy a scammer may sound on the phone, but it is a good rule of thumb to never let anyone download anything into your computer.
