An English nonprofit displayed a unique concept to get youngsters into computer programing-a pocketsized computer cheaper than the newest game on the block.
Raspberry Pi, the prototype is a functional computer which developers hope to make for $25, for the completely configured cheap computer.
The computer components are an ARM processor, USB port, and HDMI connection. Connect it to a keyboard and a television or monitor and you have a fully functional Linux system.
The crude prototype requires fine-tuning and Raspberry Pi Foundation's aim is to make available the computer to children in the developed as well as developing countries.
"We plan to develop, manufacture, and distribute ultra-low-cost computers, for use in teaching computer programming to children. This computer should have other applications in the developed and developing world," says a project summary on the nonprofits's webpage.
